Blur's on-the-road documentary Starshaped will be released on DVD by Parlophone on 27 September 2004.
Made between 1991 and 1994, Starshaped follows Blur across Europe during their excitable early years after the release of debut album Leisure and its follow-up, Modern Life is Rubbish. Kicking off with a storming performance from Reading in 1991, the camera trails them through festivals onstage, backstage and falling off the stage follows them down motorways on tourbuses, and captures the band hanging out in middle European service stations. Highlights are the explosive live footage, including sets from Glastonbury '92, Nottingham's Heineken Music Festival in '93, and festivals in Germany, Denmark and Sweden.
Starshaped is three years of mindblowing performances and outrageous candid camera from award-winning director Matthew Longfellow and producer Ceri Levy, distilled into a sparkling 120 minutes. DVD extras include footage from an early 1990 gig at Leicester's Princess Charlotte venue, and an entire live show from Kilburn National Ballroom in 1991.
